The numerous mirrors required to view a vehicle’s blind areas have been greatly improved by HGV camera systems. For drivers who don’t know where to glance first, mirrors themselves generate additional blind spots and “information overload,” and damaged or knocked-out mirrors exacerbate visibility problems. A single monitor can display multiple camera images, and specific perspectives can be activated by specific events, such as shifting into reverse.
